At a certain point even the bravest might want to just throw up their hands at whatever the latest mistake laden article or incongruity appearing within Haaretz and call it a day. Still there is to wonder if there is some underlying unseen factor or illness that drives the constant errors and misrepresentations that appear with such regular occurrence.
Looking back to an earlier post, OCID - Obsessive Compulsive Israel Disorder, perhaps we can at least give this malady a name, even though the possibility of recovery does not seem all that likely at this time.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder that causes repeated unwanted and intrusive thoughts. An OCD sufferer will engage in repetitive behaviors (compulsions) aimed at reducing anxiety caused by these thoughts (obsessions). OCD is a chronic or long-term illness that can take over a person’s life, hurt relationships, and limit the ability to work or go to school[1].
Scientists have proven that OCD is caused by one part of the brain being unable to receive information from the other.
In the past 20 years the 24/7 cable news, internet and social networking sites have revolutionized the way we receive information. In the shadow of this information revolution lays a disease that has surprisingly not yet received an official diagnosis. The cause is also a restriction of information. The disease is called Obsessive Compulsive Israel Disorder or OCID.
Now with this potential diagnosis in hand, perhaps we can take a look at yesterday's Haaretz piece with a bit more understanding.

A UN aid agency has canceled the marathon in Gaza following a ban on women runners imposed by the territory's militant Islamic Hamas rulers.
UNWRA, which assists Palestinian refugees and also sponsors and organizes the event, announced on Tuesday that plans for the April race have been scrapped.
A statement from agency says that "this disappointing decision follows discussions with the authorities in Gaza who have insisted that no women should participate" in the marathon.
Hamas has ruled Gaza since 2007 when it ousted its rival Fatah movement in street battles in the coastal strip.
The group is cracking down on behavior it deems contrary to Islam and has already banned women from riding on the backs of motorbikes, smoking water pipes, and men from working in hair salons.
On first glance, in an article dealing with a topic involving Gaza, Hamas, Palestinians, UNRWA, etc., it is more than a bit unusual to find "Israel" absent from the narrative, but wait. As this article seems to have its original source at AP, someone at Haaretz did feel the need for a topical photograph and caption, brought from Reuters, to illustrate the AP story at hand.
A perfect example one might say of OCID in all its glory.
Note: Haaretz has now updated and replaced the non-topical photo with one that is relevant to the story accompanying it. H/T to CAMERA
