The British Prime Minister David Cameron and his deputy Nick Clegg today met the Palestinian Authority ‘President’ Mahmoud Abbas on his visit to London. Cameron said that ‘time was running out’ for the two-state solution which was why the ‘settlement issue’, or ‘facts on the ground’, was so important. Clegg went further and condemned
‘continued settlement building in the strongest possible terms’
because
‘Once you've placed physical facts on the ground that make it impossible to deliver something that everyone has for years agreed is the ultimate destination [peace via a two-state solution] ... it is an act of deliberate vandalism to the basic premise on which negotiations have taken place for years and years and years. And that is why we have expressed our concerns as a government.’
Clegg should be condemned in the strongest possible terms for his support for racism. For he is supporting the ethnic cleansing of Jews from a future state of Palestine. Why does the expansion of Jewish housing in the suburbs of Jerusalem prevent a state of Palestine from being established? Only because Abbas and his cronies have said over and over again that not one Jew will be allowed to live in their state of Palestine.
That racist agenda is what Clegg and Cameron are supporting. They too assume that, by definition, wherever Jews are living cannot be subsumed into Palestine. Some 20 per cent of Israel’s population are Israeli Arabs. Why don’t Clegg and Cameron support the idea that there can be Palestinian Jews? Why do they not only agree that a future state of Palestine must be Judenrein but even blame Israel for ‘vandalism’ by failing to go along with that racist idea?
Why on earth does the expansion of Jewish housing in the suburbs of Jerusalem have any impact on a putative two-state solution? In all previous negotiations, the inclusion within Israel of what is clearly no more than Israeli natural growth and suburban sprawl was considered relatively uncontentious by the Palestinians. And why are the Jewish ‘settlements’ considered such a make or break issue, when they amount in total to no more than between one and two per cent of the disputed territories?
Why do Clegg and Cameron blame Israel for jeopardising the two-state solution, when Israel twice offered more than 90 per cent of the disputed territories for a state of Palestine -- to which the Palestinians responded only by the further mass murder of Israelis? Why do Clegg and Cameron blame Israel for jeopardising the peace process when it is Abbas who has unilaterally reneged on previous binding agreements entered into by Israel in good faith—and after he, not Israel, previously failed to comply with their terms? Why do Cameron and Clegg fail to utter a word of criticism of Abbas for all this while traducing Israel, the victim of his unending belligerency?
Why do Cameron and Clegg blame Israel for the failure to advance the peace process when Abbas and his cronies repeatedly declare that the Palestinians will never ever accept Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state -- thus committing themselves to perpetuating into infinity their war of annihilation against it? Why do Cameron and Clegg fail to acknowledge that, in any rational universe, this fundamental genocidal aim of Abbas and the Palestinians is the overwhelming reason for the conflict? Why do they give Abbas a free pass for his openly declared aim of destroying another people’s country?
Why are Cameron and Clegg supporting the Holocaust-denier Abbas and his racist Palestinian Authority which pumps out hideous, Nazi-style demonisation of Jews and the intention to destroy Israel– as here, here, here along with countless other examples – and which extols those who have slaughtered Israelis as great Palestinian heroes whose murderous Jew-hatred serves as an example for Palestinian children to emulate?
For Cameron and Clegg to welcome this monster to Britain, while themselves demonising the nation he wants to wipe out and against which his administration incites hatred and murder week in, week out, is a truly sickening spectacle. The Prime Minister and his deputy are siding with racism against its victims – and all of Britain is besmirched by this travesty.

Oh dear, does anyone really think that Clegg gives two hoots about the settlements or even the peace process? Give me a break, puleeese! Clegg is just reestablishing his government's bona fides as a genuine pro Palestinian and pro Arab body. Clegg, at the same time, is firmly reestablishing the British government's well known, well documented, and immutable antagonism and hostility towards Israel and the Jewish People.
ReplyDeleteIf Clegg really cared about the "peace process" he would demand that the Palestinians sit down with Israelis and seriously discuss a compromise settlement.
Of course that would require both diplomatic and personal honesty and courage, neither of which is in great supply in Britain, or the rest of Europe for that matter, nor in the US either!
