“The Jews who lived in Europe would always bake a large pastry… mixed with the blood of a victim…from among those who were not Jews… a little boy, whom they would place in a perforated barrel full of spikes…” “Because of this, the European peoples loathed the presence of the Jews… they were…the mechanism for the commission of every crime… source of all…corruption…”

Shockingly, this is not some obscure accusation from generations ago in Europe, but a statement from an article written just last week by Dr. Mustafa Al-Lidawi, a former Hamas official, while in Israel we celebrated the Jewish holiday of Purim. The Ma’an News Agency (MNA) — “the largest independent TV, radio and online media group in the West Bank and Gaza Strip”, according to its own website — found it appropriate to publish this in an article it ran about the Jewish holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from the evil Persian Haman.

This medieval blood libel was brought to readers courtesy of MNA’s generous Western sponsors. On its website, the news agency gives special thanks to two countries in particular: “MNA was launched with generous funding from the Danish Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Netherlands Representative Office to the PA”.

One cannot help but wonder, whether this was the kind of “news” Denmark and the Netherlands had in mind, when they helped launch the agency in 2005?

According to NGO monitor, MNA is funded (last available figures are from 2014) by Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United States, among others. In 2016, Ma’an Television Network received €427,200 (roughly $500,000) from the European Union for “Leveraging Media Initiatives to Promote Participatory Engagement in the Peace Process.” Ma’an Network received £730,000 (roughly $1 million) in 2015-2017 from the United Kingdom as part of a “multimedia project to raise awareness of, and seek to prevent, violence against women and girls.”

Western European nations, claiming to be against all forms of racism and supremacism, lavishly fund Muslim Jew-hatred. It makes for a special kind of irony, when that lavish funding helps promote old European blood libels.

Do you find the weekly sermons by imams at mosques all over the country in which they describe Jews as descendents of apes and pigs insulting? The strategy of the US Reform Movement along with home-grown leftists to introduce an American-style obsession with “racism” into Israeli consciousness shows just how far from understanding regional reality these people are.

The movement’s Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC) plans to document incidents of racism in Israel and sue the perpetrators in court, following the model of the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center in the US, which – despite illegitimately multiplying the numbers of right-wing “hate” groups, counting Christian, conservative, and anti-jihad groups and individuals as “hate groups” or “extremists,” and minimizing or ignoring Islamic, black and left-wing extremism – has managed to get itself treated as an authoritative arbiter of who should be denied a platform to speak, or even silenced by the removal of Internet services.

Let’s look at the list of groups in Israel that IRAC claims are victims of racism, and whose members it asks to report incidents of racism by telephone hotline or web form:

The Racism Crisis Center will provide support in cases of discrimination, hate speech, and hate crimes against minority populations, and collect data on the growing phenomenon of racism in Israel. The center provides support to victims of all backgrounds: Arab[s], Ethiopian Jews, Russian Jews, Mizrahi Jews, asylum seekers and migrant workers, and provides services in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Amharic and English [my emphasis].

The first thing we notice is that apparently IRAC accepts the pernicious definition of ‘racism’ that is lately popular on the Left: racism = bigotry + privilege. According to this definition, it is impossible for a member of an oppressed group to be a racist, because no matter how bigoted oppressed individuals may be, they don’t have power to oppress. This explains the second thing that we notice in the statement above, which is that the list doesn’t include “Jews” without qualification.

In Leftyworld, privilege and oppression are relative. A logical consequence of accepting the definition of racism above is that a hierarchy of oppression is created in which an oppressed person can only be victimized by the racism of a more “privileged” one. So if a Mizrachi Jew beats up an Arab, that is considered a racist hate crime; but when an Arab stabs a Jew the motive must be something else (the Arabs themselves call it “resistance”). Once you have the hierarchy you can use it for all kinds of things, such as who is allowed to speak and who is expected to be a silent “ally.”

Since all Jews, even Mizrachi, Russian or Ethiopian Jews, have more privilege than Arabs, there is no need for a category for racism against Jews. Jews qua Jews can’t complain of racism, unless the complainant is a member of one of the oppressed groups complaining about a more privileged person or group. And no, I don’t know whether Mizrachis or Russians are more oppressed.

This definition and the ideology that flows from it have created more racial hostility in the US than understanding or reconciliation. Bringing it to Israel is a terrible idea.

If we look at the basic difference between the “racial issue” here and in the US, we can see how blisteringly ignorant these people are of reality in Israel and the rest of the Middle East. Without the slightest doubt, the most common, blatant and vicious manifestation of racism in the region is Muslim Arab racism toward Jews.

...If you are caught up with the meme of Ferguson = Palestine, you’ll regret it. It will only result in Americans resenting the Intifada methods imported now into the United States and you’ll be supporting an oppressive regime not only against Jews but its own populace: women, children, journalists, bloggers and Christians who suffer a loss of human rights and civill liberties.

That was an act of Palestinian segregation. Jews can’t use Islamic water at Islamic fountains.

Jews cannot share nor can they even be present as identifiably Jewish at the Temple Mount.

They will be accosted by Muslim men and women who are paid to ‘study’ there and whenever a Jew appears who seems to be not a tourist but one who seeks to pay quiet respect to the site of his/her former Temples (Israel forbids prayer in any form or even the reading from Bibles or other religious texts), they will obstruct, scream, push and shove and otherwise seek to creat a confrontation and provoke a Jewish response, even if in self-defense, so as to get that Jew removed and better, to have the police charge him with a crime and best, have him or her banned for a period from the site. A full riot would be a real achievement. In fact, all non-Muslims suffer the same discrimination.

Meanwhile, Israel allows Gaza Muslims to pray there on Fridays and all they do is wave banners and flags, rally on behalf of Hamas, burn a French flag recently, or otherwise raise mayhem and incitement.

Jews cannot ride the roads of the Palestinian Authority.

Demanding the release of racist murderers?

The debate over the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Palestinian acquiescence to resuming peace talks has become ridiculous. The biggest opponents of any trace of racism are also the same people who are now the biggest advocates of releasing racist killers. (It sounds odd in the Israeli reality, but yes, targeting Jews is also an act of racism.) The same people who demand all-out war against anyone who spray paints the words "price tag" on a wall are showing magnanimous mercy when it comes to baby killers and dismemberers of bodies.

What can I say, the understanding being extended to the Palestinian narrative, which favors terrorists who blow up crowded buses, has become extremely bizarre. Even the hypocrisy of Yedioth Ahronoth, the paper that has incessantly demanded a resumption of peace talks, but once talks were resumed launched a war against the price Israel had to pay, doesn't exceed the normal levels of hypocrisy over there.

And where are all the knights who valiantly advocate the rule of law? Why are they suddenly silent as the verdicts handed down to Arab murderers are becoming mere abstract recommendations? What will the release of all these prisoners do to the families of the victims? After all, we are all the family of the victims: We all cried with them. We all recoiled from the atrocities together.
