Two years after the mass release of killers and other terrorists, a cry of pain

...Oddly, Netanyahu himself best expressed the dangers that his releases pose. In a recent “open letter” posted on his website, he addressed his constituents after announcing the release of the 104 prisoners. "This is an incredibly difficult decision,” he wrote [source]. “It hurts the bereaved families, it hurts all of the Israeli people and it hurts me very much. It clashes with the most important principle, the principle of justice.” Of course, those words only make his decision to pursue these releases more confounding.

Frimet Roth's op-ed appears (in slightly edited form, under the title "Releasing terrorists only encourages terrorism") in today's edition of the Jerusalem Post. Its publication coincides with the second anniversary of the day on which no fewer than 1,027 convicted killers and assorted other convicted terrorists were set free by the Israeli government in order to secure the release of a kidnapped hostage, the soldier Gilad Shalit. Among those who walked free two years ago is the woman who confessed (proudly) to engineering the massacre at a central Jerusalem pizza shop a decade earlier. That woman, the principal murderer of our teenage daughter Malki, now lives freely in Amman, Jordan from where she regularly speaks to public meetings and via her own television program in enthusiastic and unimpeded support of the killing of Jewish children.
