In the past, the Los Angeles Times marked Israel's birthday with an Op-Ed calling for its dismantlement via the so-called "one-state solution." The paper didn't bother to wait for the spring anniversary of the Jewish state's founding, presenting its readers yesterday with another call for a "one-state solution." Jonathan Kuttab's Dec. 20, 2009 Op-Ed ("Steps to Create Israel-Palestine"), like earlier pieces by Saree Makdisi (here and here) and Tony Judt which called for the destruction of the Jewish state, rests on a number of basic factual errors and faulty assumptions.
From the Mediterranean to the Jordan River
I wish Israel WERE in control of all the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. I would impose my own one state solution: Israel ought to annex all the territory not yet annexed and forget trying to appease terrorists and to give them a state. Then Israel needs to get tough and offer resident status cards to all Arabs who accept Israel's existence and agrees to live under her laws.
ReplyDeleteAll other are welcome to return to their ancestral villages in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, or Jordan. The newcomers can cross to Jordan and try to vote in that kingdom if they wish to exercise their political rights, as they will have only civil and religious rights within the new Israel.
The UN, the USA, the EU, and all other belligerents can be shown the door, along with all the hostile NGO's which are supported by Europeans and Arab states.
Then Israel should clean house and clean out southern Lebanon and annex the Litani River - the source for our only river in Israel.
All politicians without a backbone ought to be fired, and sincere replacements sought to replace them.
