And Now Introducing the Paligandist Who Peddles Paliganda

With a little help from friends, I will attempt to introduce some new terms for your use.

The detractors of Zionism and those who denigrate Israel have been employing “hasbarist”.

Here is a use:

There are thousands of hasbarists, official, covert and volunteer, who leap with zeal on any comment that might be seen to contradict the official Zionist party line.

It’s used as a hashtag on Twitter.

Already in 2007, anti-Zionist Matthew Duss, now with FMEP, wrote the phrase “peddling hasbarist myths” and in 2009, it was used by a hateful, duplicitous and prevaricating Jewish anti-Zionist so “N.Y. Times Publishes Hasbarist’s Dream Op Ed on Iran”. Border-line nazist, Max Blumenthal, uses it regularly. And it was used in 2008, too. A friend of mine was called a ‘hasbarista’, a spiteful play on barista. You can find this: “Israel Mad Machine of Hasbarists” and Abe Foxman was described as “the Anti-Defamation League's hasbarist-in-chief”. It can get linguistically nasty: “You stupid Askenazi. There are lies, damned lies and hasbarist propaganda”.

Well, there may be now a counter-term.

Pasbara was one suggestion (I would use Palsbara as I employ ‘Pals’ instead of “Palestinians”).

Media cheap shots: Palestinians put kids in the line of fire

Tamar Sternthal..
Times of Israel..
12 September '12..

There’s nothing like a photograph of an innocent child caught up in military conflict to elicit sympathy, rage, and at times, international intervention. In 2000, the iconic footage of 11-year-old Mohammed Al-Dura enflamed the Muslim world against Israel and generated world-wide outrage. By the time the evidence emerged, proving that the Israeli army could not have killed the boy, the damage had been done.

In the 1997 fictional film “Wag the Dog,” a Hollywood producer and a Washington spin doctor fabricate violence in Albania in order to divert attention from the president’s sex scandal. To persuade the country of the need for war, they manufacture footage of a young orphan girl fleeing from mayhem.

On a media stage far away from Hollywood, in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh, where photographers gather every Friday to document repetitious scenes of Palestinian residents and international activists clashing with Israeli soldiers, Palestinian activists are placing their children in ever-more-visible roles. Unlike scenes in “Wag the Dog,” a black comedy, there’s nothing funny about parents exploiting their own children to score propaganda points in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Unfortunately, that’s just what happened on Friday, August 24, when A’hd Tamimi, and her cousin Marah Tamimi, both 11, were photographed by Agence France-Presse tearfully being restrained by Israeli soldiers.

(Video) The Qalandiya 3 Ring Circus

Love of the Land..
03 April '12..

Posted a few days ago, this Youtube is rather typical of a genre of Pallywood heroic protest films, that with an army of photographers in tow, resembles something quite close to a 3 ring circus. One can choose whatever one finds to be most interesting, one time the photographer behavior, the next time, aggressively non-violent rock throwers shielding themselves with Red Crescent Ambulances, during the loading of purported injured. Also, not to be upstaged, a group of silly American/Europeans chanting their slogans during an impromptu moment before the cameras. The choices are virtually unlimited, hence the title, The Qalandiya 3 Ring Circus.

A few highlights:

00:15 Photographers assemble for the pre-game show

00:24 Throw and get behind that Red Crescent Ambulance

00:28 Photographers accompany rock-throwers on their first foray. About a 1:1 ratio

01:47 Quite a bank of photographers on the left-side getting the action photos

05:42 Any idea who this character is?

06:51 Another great photo-op, kneeling in front of van.

08:59 and 09:32-09:35 Those Red Crescents Ambulances really make the perfect shield, while they load up their customers.

10:20-10:45 The American/Europeans, wishing they had been born 3rd world, make their contribution to the revolution.
