What nation in the world tolerates a lawmaker openly advocating the destruction of the state - by Elder of Ziyon

...Zoabi was suspended from Knesset for six months back in 2014. Why she wasn't banned altogether is unexplainable. No nation in the world would tolerate a lawmaker openly advocating the destruction of the state.

Elder of Ziyon..

Earlier this month, Knesset MK Hanin Zoabi said that Jews are not a people and therefore have no right to self-determination, although Palestinians, mysteriously, do.

That may not be the most outrageous thing she said this month.

Daum - The misfortunate Ms. Zoabi (+ Video)

Op-ed: Instead of being opposition member in enlightened Syria, MK Zoabi stuck in Israel

May the heavens have mercy at the honorable Ms. Hanin Zoabi, who found herself in such cruel state like Israel. A state that dares stop illegal invasion through the sea. A state that unlike its lovely neighbors does not allow for freedom of expression. A state where the minority fears for its life every day, especially Ms. Zobai herself – every time I see her eating at a coffee shop in Jerusalem's German Colony neighborhood I can see the signs of tensions on her face.

If only Ms. Zoabi could walk around Israel peacefully, just like Israelis can walk in Gaza. If only Ms. Zoabi had a chance to be an opposition member in Syria or in Libya. If only she could be an educated woman in Gaza who demands equality for women – oh, what a wonderful life she would have.

Yet the poor Zoabi found herself in Israel, and things are truly terrible for her, oh God. Her salary as a Knesset member is merely some NIS 30,000 per month (roughly $9,000.) She enjoys lesser terms than those of a minister, and now she has been banned from the Knesset for two weeks. Two weeks!

And all of this is happening just because she said there was no violence on the Gaza flotilla in 2010, while in reality there certainly was? Just because she said she saw nobody beating up soldiers, while the photos proved that she was standing right by the violence? Banning her just for that? For her participation in a violent effort to invade Israel's borders? For her part in an incident where a Navy Commando who boarded the vessel unarmed was almost abducted?

(MK Zoabi tells us what she would have liked to have seen.
Please dont' break your computer screen. Yosef)

Who said that an Israeli Knesset member has to be in favor of our Navy commandos rather than in favor of Turkish terror activists? Where is democracy? Where is freedom of expression? How could an Israeli citizen not be allowed to fight Israel and undermine its very existence? How could a person who merely thinks Israel is an illegitimate state get such grave punishment from the Knesset's Ethics Committee? How low can we go?

Maybe we'll even pass a law forbidding terrorists from running for Knesset and banning criminals from being chosen for the Supreme Court? So sad and regrettable to see Ms. Zoabi's bitter fate; it really makes one eager to set up another protest tent near the Knesset cafeteria.

Instead of being a modern, single woman in one of our enlightened neighbors – Syria, Egypt, Jordan or Iran – how this pleasant lady found herself in the violent, brutal Israel of all places? Let's hope her terrible punishment elapses soon. We're all with you, Hanin Zoabi; we're all with you.

The parliamentarian who wants to destroy her own state

Elder of Ziyon

The Islamo-Nazism blog notices an amazing interview translated by MEMRI (video here):

Following are excerpts from an interview with Israeli Knesset Member Hanin Zoabi, which aired on Al-Hiwar TV on October 9, 2010:

Hanin Zoabi: The national plan of our party, the National Democratic Assembly, consists of a fully sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, and a non-Zionist “state of all its citizens” within the 1948 borders. Note this. In Israel they say to us: “Your solution is more dangerous than the one-state solution, because you want a state and a half.” In Israel they say that we want another Palestinian state. This is the plan of the Assembly Party: a fully sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, and a non-Zionist, non-Jewish state within the 1948 borders...

Interviewer: To which the refugees will return. That is an important condition.

Hanin Zoabi: This is a basic condition. Of course it includes the return of the refugees.

Israeli Knesset Member Hanin Zou'bi: I Do Not Represent the State of Israel but the Palestinian Struggle

MEMRI
Special Dispatch No.3208
02 September '10

In an interview for the website Elaph.com, Israeli Arab Knesset Member Hanin Zou'bi of the Balad party said that she sees herself as a representative not of Israel but rather of the struggle of the Palestinian people, and as such does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Zou'bi attacked the Palestinian Authority, which she claimed no longer stands for Palestinian rights, and called on the PLO to effect a reform which would grant Israeli Arabs a voice in its leadership.

Following are excerpts from the interview:

"Israel is a Jewish State which Does Not Represent Me; It is Nothing but a Racist State"

Q: "As the first woman in a national Arab party, you came to the Knesset to represent the Arab citizens of the State of Israel. [But] you are like a storm that stirs up the world and will not quit. You might have been expected, for example, to take up the causes of the Arab woman and the Arab community in Israel. Instead you are at the center of an international storm [following your participation in the Gaza flotilla], and testifying against the very country of whose parliament you are a member."

Hanin Zou'bi: "...I represent the Balad party and its platform. Therefore, it is natural that I should address the Palestinian people's issues and the legitimacy of [their] struggle, since we [Israeli Arabs] are among the original inhabitants [of the land]. We [represent] not only the direct national concerns [of the Israeli Arabs], but also general Palestinian concerns. If this were not the case, my statements regarding my belonging to the Palestinian people would be meaningless... My participation in the Freedom Flotilla was intended to emphasize that my way is not just [a way of] spewing national slogans, but of translating them into political action, as is required of me...

"Our voicing of national [concerns] pains the Israeli public, because it fears that we pose a threat to the state. Therefore, when we demand national rights, we pose a threat to the state's Jewishness. This is true, but it is not my problem. The problem lies with the racist definition of the State [of Israel] as a Jewish state..."

Q: "...How can you expect the country in whose parliament you are a member to keep quiet about such activity [i.e. your participation in the Gaza flotilla]? In France, a member of the National Assembly would not dare to act thus against the French state..."

Hanin Zou'bi: "...My situation is different. I do not represent the State of Israel or speak in its name, but rather in the name of the [Palestinian] struggle, which does not in any way recognize Israel as a Jewish state. [I speak] in the name of a struggle that is performing a role precisely opposed to that of the Israeli Knesset, from the [Knesset's] standpoint...

"In my case, my identity does not conform to the identity of the state of which I am a citizen... This state does everything in its power to present my identity as opposed to its own identity and to its role of providing a safe haven for Jews wherever they may be. In my case, I say that Israel is a Jewish state which does not represent me; it is nothing but a racist state..."
