Like the BBC on Sunday, Harriet Sherwood claims many Palestinians have been ‘shocked’ by the Itamar killings, also ignoring celebrations of the attack in Gaza.
Writing in today’s Guardian, Harriet Sherwood reports on the continuing repercussions of the killings in the West Bank settlement of Itamar, where five family members – including two children and a baby – were stabbed to death.
Both the headline and the article itself, suggest that, on the whole, Palestinians were upset by the killings. In ‘Israelis and Palestinians in shock after Fogel family massacre,’ the correspondent claims:
‘The murder of the Fogel family has devastated Israel, and shocked many Palestinians.’
In line with an article on the BBC that also made this claim, no evidence is supplied for the assertion that the murders have been met with shock by Palestinians, except to quote Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ issuing a harsh condemnation.
As Just Journalism noted yesterday, Palestinians actively celebrated the killings in Gaza. Getty Images/AP released a photo in which:
‘A Palestinian man distributes sweets in the streets of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on March 12, 2011 to celebrate an attack which killed five Israeli settlers at the Itamar settlement near the West Bank city of Nablus.’
This celebration was not reported by The Guardian or the BBC despite the fact that both media organs attempted to portray Palestinians as unhappy about the killings.

In these critical times, when nations are challenging one another and violence is increasing in an unbelievable manner, the Jews have the power to bring about peace in the entire world/
ReplyDeleteIn order that the entire world should be orderly, it is essential that each and every one of the "seventy nations" should be influenced so that they will work on settling the world through spreading the Seven Mitzvos & influencing the nations to keep their mitzvos, in order to assist our task of making the world into a dwelling place for G-d, and help bring about the arrival of Moshiach. Every individual must do everything possible to hasten his coming. In order to bring awareness of these Seven Mitzvos to the world I have recently created a blog for this sole purpose
http://creedofnoah.blogspot.com
Please add this to your blogroll (& encourage your fellow bloggers to add my blog or add it to their social networking sites) to help spread the awareness of the existence of the Noahide Commandments.
Appreciated.
Can somebody PLEASE tell me why the British media seems hell-bent on portraying Israel as the eternal aggressor and the Palestinians as an oppressed pacifist people who richly deserve our support. PLEASE...I'm going crazy!
