Greta Berlin, who has made anti-Semitic statements in the past, tweeted a link to Holocaust denial material using the Free Gaza twitter account. Berlin had said in the past that reading the rantings of Gilad Atzmon, described as anti-Semitic even by Muslim terrorism supporters, made her glad she was raised Methodist, not Jewish.
Her latest antics involved claiming that the Nazis were actually Zionists and the concentration camps were a Jewish project. Berlin linked to a video featuring Eustace Mullins, a notorious bigot who believed in a slightly updated version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Throughout his long career as a propagandist, Mullins wrote numerous anti-Semitic works, including Secrets of the Federal Reserve, a re-hash of his anti-Semitic theories about the origins of the Federal Reserve and The Curse of Canaan, Mullins’s biblical “analysis” asserting that an ages-long conflict has taken place between the builders of civilization and the Canaanites (i.e., the Jews), who sought to destroy civilized life on earth.
On December 20, 2006, Mullins appeared as a guest on the white supremacist Vanguard News Network’s Internet-based radio show, run by neo-Nazi Alex Linder. A Web page announcing the program also promoted Mullin’s book, The Biological Jew, a virulently anti-Semitic book in which Mullins calls the very existence of Jews a “hate crime against nature.”
To no one’s surprise, the most virulent opponents of the Jewish State are operating under the influence of exactly this kind of traditional bigotry. They aren’t activists for Palestinian rights, just freelance bigots.
How out of character is this kind of thinking for the Free Gaza Gang?
Let’s look at Alice Walker, the woman that her defenders insist is not a bigot.
In an essay which Walker wrote in 2009, she described giving a gift to a Palestinian woman:
“I gave her a gift I had brought, and she thanked me. Looking into my eyes she said: May God Protect You From the Jews. When the young Palestinian interpreter told me what she’d said, I responded: It’s too late, I already married one.”
Walker is a member of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, now in New York, alongside Cynthia McKinney, who has engaged in her own anti-Semitic outbursts. It all leads one to wonder whether there would even be a Western Pro-Palestinian movement if anti-Semitism did not exist.
