Former U.S. deputy defense secretary Lawrence Korb tells Army Radio: The United States must free Jonathan Pollard immediately
Pollard, a former civilian intelligence analyst, was sentenced to life in prison in 1987 on charges of spying in the U.S. for the benefit of Israel. If justice is not finally done in this case, on November 21, 2010 Pollard will complete his 25th year of a life sentence and begin year 26 as the only person in the history of the US to receive a life sentence for spying for an ally. Lawrence Korb said that Pollard should be freed immediately because his punishment is grossly disproportionate for the offense he committed.
