In Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech two days ago at Bar-Ilan University, I noticed important clarifications and illuminations in relation to his previous speech within the same framework -- a speech that won the title "Two States for Two Peoples." His second Bar-Ilan speech was also a clear continuation of the prime minister's message from a few days ago in front of the United Nations General Assembly. In his second Bar-Ilan speech, Netanyahu called on Israelis not to fall for the dangerous illusion of peace now, which for 20 years already has been used to lead an entire country astray.
The events in the old-new Middle East, including government overthrows, civil wars, rampant violence and dangerous armament, obligate the reiteration and elucidation of certain basic truths at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These are truths that irresponsible politicians, delusional intellectuals, new historians and media propagandists hide from the citizens of Israel. Over the years these truths have been masked, hidden behind a smokescreen to damage the ability of Israeli society to persevere.
In his speech, the prime minister stressed that the conflict between the Jews and Palestinians did not begin on May 14, 1948 (when David Ben-Gurion declared Israel's independence) and not immediately following the 1967 Six-Day War -- on the so-called "seventh day." Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem are not the heart of the conflict. The claim that the liberation of our homeland (the occupation, in their lexicon) gave birth to the conflict is a fallacy from the Israeli Left's school of baseless thought. The shahids (martyrs), Salafists, those who hunt and shoot small girls, are the continuation of those who committed pogroms in Jaffa, Safed and Hebron, and who embarked on their bloody path years before the state was established and long before the Six-Day War.
A fundamental historical fact is that the Arabs are not ready to come to terms with Israel being the only national home of the Jewish people. The Arabs have never accepted Judaism's return home. The first time a Jew plowed the first field in the homeland should be seen as the beginning of their campaign of murder and hatred. They fixed their rifles and knives on Kibbutz Hanita and Rosh Pinna and the kibbutzim in the Jezreel Valley many years before Psagot, Kedumim and Beit El.
The prime minister reminded us in his speech about the cooperation between the Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini and the Nazi regime, in the joint hope of realizing the final solution for the Jews of Europe. The mufti, the oriental pet favorite of Hitler and Eichmann, is idolized even today by the Palestinians and is recognized as one of the fathers of their fake nationality. A considerable amount of cynicism and malice is required to claim that the Palestinian "Nakba" ("Catastrophe") was the result of the Jewish Holocaust in Europe. The Palestinian Nakba is the result of their hatred, stubbornness and hope for the annihilation of the Jews; a hope that failed them.
The ongoing negotiations with the Palestinians are destined to fail as long as the Palestinian leadership in Gaza, Judea and Samaria refuses to recognize Israel as Jewish state. Israeli citizens yearn for peace, but are not willing to commit national suicide for the sake of falsehoods, malevolent smiles and illusions. The 2,000 years of exile were enough for the Jews to lose their existential naïveté. There is no use or logic whatsoever in talking about two states for two peoples; we must first start with one state for one people. We must not despair of the hope for peace, but the hope for life must be stronger. "The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless his people with peace" (Psalms 29:11). First strength, then peace.
