(+ Videos) Pinocchio meets the "Occupation Magazine"

Not much of a surprise to those who invest even a minimal amount of time to question claims originating amongst the motley crew purporting to serve a higher cause in these parts. But for those who really don't have the time to go though the weeds, here are two representative examples of the "Pinocchio Syndrome" as practiced by some of those who have washed up on our shores uninvited.

First, from the "Occupation Magazine", one of today's headlined items:

Palestinian wounded in confrontation with settlers celebrating `Jerusalem Day`  Oz Rosenberg - Ha`aretz - Amid increasing tensions, a Palestinian is severely wounded by a soldier gurading a group of settlers, cycling on Bethlehem District roads to mark "Jerusalem Day". According to the first report, the Palestinian had tried to stab the soldier.

How was he wounded? By whom was he wounded? What's the context? However, knowing who we're dealing with, it's mandatory to first check their linked Haaretz story below:

A Palestinian man attempted to stab an IDF soldier securing a Jerusalem Day event near the Gush Etzion junction in the West Bank, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.

Preliminary reports indicated that the soldier, who was protecting a cycling trip organized to mark Jerusalem Day, was unharmed and that the assailant was seriously wounded in the struggle to subdue him. ....

Three Points to Consider:

(1) A Palestinian was not wounded in a confrontation with settlers

(2) Palestinian attacks IDF soldier ... is the actual source headline

(3)[Oz Rosenberg - Ha`aretz - Amid increasing tensions, a Palestinian is severely wounded by a soldier gurading a group of settlers, cycling on Bethlehem District roads to mark "Jerusalem Day".] According to the first report, the Palestinian had tried to stab the soldier.

The highlighted section exists only in its insertion by Occupation Magazine in its attempt to attribute it to Haaretz .

"Pinocchio Syndrome" strikes again.

Part II: Pinocchio meets CPT

For those who are not familiar, the CPT (Christian Peacemaker Teams) organization has spent a goodly amount of time in the Hevron area, and is a group that claims that is committed to work and relationships that ...Embody creative non-violence and liberating love. Therefore it might be a bit shocking that Israeli soldiers might find some need to push a both loving and non-violent individual such as this. The gentleman in the red baseball cap is our personality under discussion.

Ever so briefly at the 11 second mark one can catch some of the loving feeling. However, from a second video, perhaps there is a clearer picture.At 21 seconds our CPT friend exercises some creative non-violence, and the soldier he attacked just didn't understand it was all about liberating love.



"Pinocchio Syndrome", it's everywhere.
